Internal Security Fund (ISF)

Short Description/Objective: 

The project involves trainings for Police members and co-trainings between members of the Emergency Response Unit and Police members of EU member states, for the purposes of preventing and managing the consequences of terrorism and other risks, as well as enhancing/upgrading the technological equipment of the Cyprus Police Academy.

The main objectives of the project are as follows:

1. Tο strengthen the operational capabilities of the Cyprus Police and, in particular, the Emergency Response Unit and the Cyprus Police Academy for the effective prevention and fight against crime, terrorism, as well as other incidents (e.g. drugs, explosives, missing /wanted persons).
2. Tο upgrade and enhance the technological equipment of the Cyprus Police Academy.

    

Expected Benefits/Outcomes:

The implementation of the project is expected to strengthen the operational preparedness and capability of the Police in the areas of prevention and management of terrorism and security-related risks, including incidents involving chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear materials, as well as in the prevention and combating of cross-border crime.
