Internal Security Fund (ISF)

Short Description/Objective: 

Under the ISF 2021-2027 Programme, the Cyprus Police will implement in the period 2022-2025 actions that will contribute to strengthening its operational capabilities for more effective prevention and combating crime, as follows:

• Purchase of specialised means of transport, such as off-line vehicles/motorcycles, 4X4 crime scene investigation vehicles, mobile crisis and deposition station/centre
• Purchase of specialised technological equipment, such as 3D scanners, drones, etc.
• Purchase of other technological equipment, such as laptops/workstations, etc.
• Trainings
• Service contract for financial analysts.

Expected Benefits/Outcomes: 

The implementation of the project is expected to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Police in preventing and combatting cross-border crime.

In particular, it will improve the level of readiness and capacity of Police members to respond to and combat cross-border crime effectively, facilitate their tasks, and enhance accuracy in collecting crime scene data. In addition, Police members will be more efficient and observant during crime scene examinations, as well as in handling cases involving victims of domestic violence. Finally, the effectiveness of financial crime investigations will be strengthened by reducing the time required to investigate and solve crimes and to refer cases to court.
