Short Description/Objective:

The main objective of the project is the development of the Liopetri River (Potamos Liopetriou) area through the creation of a modern fishing shelter and the organization of a National Park with a strong environmental and educational character.

To ensure the safety and facilitation of fishermen, the quays are organized with low-intensity lighting and a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system. At the same time, the infrastructure includes a dedicated safe mooring area, a fully equipped boatyard (carnagio), a crane parking area, as well as an organized outdoor space for sorting catches in compliance with hygiene regulations. The project is completed with the creation of indoor facilities for training, gathering, and sanitation for fishermen, as well as organized parking spaces.

The project is based on three main pillars:

1. The smooth operation of the Fishing Shelter (creation of an organized space – infrastructure works).
2. The protection and promotion of the natural environment of the River area.
3. The creation of a significant pole of attraction for visitors.

Expected Benefits/Outcomes:

The development of the project will offer multiple benefits to both daily users and visitors of the area. Specifically, the creation of a modern and organized fishing shelter will radically upgrade the safety and quality of the working conditions for fishermen, while also promoting their profession.

Additionally, the area will be upgraded environmentally and aesthetically, which is expected to increase visits from both locals and foreign tourists. Finally, the ecological and sustainable design of the project can serve as a model for future developments of a similar scale.
