Short Description/Objective:
This Grant Scheme aims to mitigate the interaction between fisher and marine protected species, such as dolphins and turtles, due to the damage they cause to catches.
Specifically, dolphins and sea turtles, which are protected species, inhabit in the same environment where fishing takes place, frequently preying on catches from the fishers’ fishing gear and destroying the gear itself. When this occurs, it negatively impacts their work in financial terms.
To cover this financial loss, beneficiaries are provided with an annual lump sum amount, which is calculated based on fishing days, production, and catch prices.
Expected Benefits/Outcomes:
Mitigating the interaction between fishers and marine protected species, such as dolphins and turtles, due to the damage they cause to catches.
